Questions Parents Ask

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about KidStrong Crestview Hills

What ages does KidStrong serve?

KidStrong serves children from crawling age through 11 years old. Classes are grouped by developmental stage, not just by age, so kids are with peers at the same point in their physical, cognitive, and character development:

  • BabyStrong (crawling to walking)
  • Walking to 2 years
  • 2 to 4 years
  • 4 to 7 years
  • 7 to 11 years

Each stage has its own curriculum built around the developmental milestones that matter most at that age.

What would my kid actually do in a KidStrong class?

Every class is 45 minutes, follows a structured, 8-block format, and is built around three pillars: physical, cognitive, and character development. What that looks like depends on your child's developmental stage.

BabyStrong (crawling to walking): This is a critical window for establishing fundamental movement patterns and building positive associations with group learning — kids this age need stimulation that fosters neuroplasticity and confidence in a safe, social environment. Activities include crawling drills, assisted walking, ball tracking, weighted pushing, sensory exploration, and parent-supported milestones.

Walking to 2 years: At this age, language comprehension and fundamental movement skills (running, jumping, throwing, catching) are coming online — and so are the early social skills (sharing, turn-taking, emotional regulation) that shape how a child learns in groups for the rest of their life. Activities include chase games, bean bag tosses, cargo net climbs, monkey bar prep, memory and matching games, color/shape/number recognition, and structured turn-taking practice.

2 to 4 years: This is the peak window for both brain growth and motor coordination — the highest rate of neural connection in childhood — so we maximize executive function development (working memory, focus, task initiation) alongside the complex movement patterns that build lifelong athleticism. Activities include balance beams, climbing walls, target throwing, tumbling, monkey bars, heavy pushes and carries, multi-step obstacle courses, pattern recognition games, and Kinder Prep work.

4 to 7 years: Kids this age are forming their self-identity and beliefs about their own abilities, so we focus on confidence, resilience, and a growth mindset — paired with strategic thinking, problem-solving under pressure, and the physical literacy to excel at any sport they choose. Activities include agility ladders, plyometric work, box jumps, tire flips, rope climbing, strategy games, mental flexibility drills, public speaking practice, and in-class leadership roles like Class Captain.

7 to 11 years: This is when kids start preparing to be leaders — at home, on teams, and eventually in school — so we build mature leadership, grit, and emotional intelligence alongside advanced strength, speed, and sport-specific skill. Activities include sprint work, performance testing, gymnastics fundamentals, burpees, heavy object carries, advanced strategy games, time management drills, emotional regulation work, and team leadership exercises.

Every class ends with a Competition block (tug of war, tire flips, obstacle relays) and an Award Ceremony where coaches recognize effort, character, and progress.

How is KidStrong different from gymnastics or tumbling?

KidStrong is a kids' development program, not a sports skill class. Our curriculum is designed by child development experts to build three things at once: physical skills (strength, coordination, balance), cognitive skills (focus, pattern recognition, problem-solving), and character skills (resilience, confidence, teamwork). Gymnastics teaches a sport. KidStrong builds the foundation that helps kids succeed at any sport, in school, and in life.

Is KidStrong a kids' gym?

No — KidStrong is a child development program built around the key developmental milestones kids hit between crawling and age 11. Parents often look at us alongside kids' gyms because we have the equipment and the energy, but the comparison ends there. Play-places focus on free play. Sports facilities focus on athletic skill. KidStrong was built in partnership with child development experts to build the whole child — physical strength, cognitive skills, and character — at every developmental stage. That's why families choose KidStrong Crestview Hills when they want their child's weekly activity to do more than burn off energy.

My kid is shy or anxious — would KidStrong be a good fit?

Yes — KidStrong is one of the best fits there is for shy or anxious kids. Two things make it work. First, our certified coaches are trained to draw quieter kids out of their shell and help them want to participate — no being put on the spot, no being singled out, just steady encouragement that builds confidence at the child's own pace. Second, every class follows the same eight-block format, opens with the same affirmation, and ends with the same award ceremony. That predictability is what shy and anxious kids need most, and it's what lets them settle in instead of bracing for what's coming next. Within a few weeks, parents typically tell us they're seeing a different kid: one who's raising their hand, trying new things, and walking into class with confidence.

What's the science behind KidStrong?

We've co-developed our programming with a wide range of advisors from child development, academia, and occupational therapy backgrounds to build a development program rooted in the latest science about how kids move, learn, and grow into stronger, more confident kids. Every class block — Foundations, Milestone, Move & Learn, Performance, Competition — maps to developmental milestones our advisors identified as the most important to hit between ages 1 and 11.

What is BabyStrong?

BabyStrong is our parent-and-child class for crawlers through early walkers. Parents stay on the floor with their child during the 45-minute session. The class focuses on motor development, sensory exploration, and early social skills — built around the developmental milestones our pediatric advisors identify as the most important to support in the first stage of mobility.

Do you offer a trial class?

Absolutely! A trial class is the best way to experience what KidStrong can do for your child.

Do I need to make an appointment to attend?

Yes. Classes at KidStrong Crestview Hills are reserved spots for both members and trial families, so we ask that you contact us in advance to save your child's place. Walk-ins can't be accommodated because every class is built around a fixed coach-to-child ratio.

Does KidStrong work for kids with special needs?

KidStrong is designed for kids of all abilities, and our coaches are trained to meet kids where they are. Every child is different, so the best next step is a quick conversation — give KidStrong Crestview Hills a call at +1 859-757-0201 and we'll be happy to discuss how we can support your child.
